Interview with Alicia Wheeler

Q: Who is Alicia Wheeler?

A: I am the CEO Owner/managing attorney of Wheeler Law.

Q: How long have you been practicing law?

A: Over 6 years.

Q: Where did you learn Spanish?

A: During my studies at Bucknell University, I double-majored in political science and Spanish. For my major in Spanish, I studied abroad in Granada, Spain for 4.5 months and went on a service trip to Nueva Vida, Nicaragua. After graduating from Bucknell University, I taught middle school Spanish in Atlanta, Georgia for two years through the program “Teach for America.” Although I studied and taught Spanish, I credit our clients for helping me learn and practice the language every single day.

Q: When did Wheeler Law open?

A: January of 2020.

Q: How many employees work for Wheeler Law?

A: We have 7 full time employees, including two associate attorneys, support staff, social media specialist, and bookkeeper.

Q: What are Wheeler Law values?

A: We are dedicated to finding creative solutions to break down the barriers keeping members of our community from getting papers in the United States. We found the best way to do that is by providing efficient, effective and compassionate legal services to our clients. We have an incredible team who ensures that your case is handled in a timely fashion and that we get the best results possible for our clients. We also treat our clients with compassion. Every case has a unique set of case facts and circumstances, and our clients have their own goals and desired outcomes. We listen to our clients and develop a case strategy that meets their individual needs.

Q: What is the meaning behind Wheeler Law’s logo?

A: The logo is the justice scales in the middle of a lotus flower. Lotus flowers are symbols of strength, resilience and rebirth because when the flowers rise from the mud at the break of day, and they open their bloom without any stains. Life is messy and complex but yet, beautiful. We, together, can rise from the mud to overcome the adversity the day may bring, just like the lotus flower. The justice scales represent fairness. There are two sides to every story and each side of the story must be heard.

Q: Are you involved in any community activities?

A: Yes, I have been a member of the Immigration Executive Counsel of the Arizona State Bar for the last three years. I served as the chair of the counsel from 2021 - 2022. The Immigration Executive Counsel plans events for members of the section and State Bar to learn and discuss aspects of the Immigration Law.

Q: What services does Wheeler Law provide?

A: Although we used to offer services in the areas of Criminal and Family law, we have recently decided to dedicate our focus and efforts on Immigration Law 100% of the time.

Here’s a list of the types of immigration cases our attorneys focus on:

  • Asylum
